Lucerne's legendary luxury hotel was originally created in the 1870s by César Ritz and Auguste Escoffier. Today, it provides a blend of a tradition with a modern twist, combining high quality accommodation, culinary perfection in the restaurant Le Trianon and quality musical entertainment every evening in the National Bar.
Situated on the lakeside promenade, with easy access to the old city, all important sights, shopping area, culture and convention centre and the railway station. From the hotel there are views across the lake to the Alps and one can see the famous Rigi, Stanserhorn and Pilatus mountains as well as the highest peaks of Central Switzerland.
Fitness Park National
Located right opposite the hotel it offers a choice of outdoor and indoor swimming pools, hydro therapy pools, steam baths, and oriental relaxation rooms, different saunas, sun terrace, cardio vascular machines and resistance training areas, massages.
The hotel is partly accessible for disabled people.

The rooms and suites are individually designed in the original 'Fin du Sciècle' style with great attention to detail including; floors of Italian marble, walls covered with luxurious silk wallpaper, hand-woven carpets and comfortable sofas and chairs all upholstered with the finest materials. All rooms are overlooking the lake or the city side. Junior suites include air conditioning.
The restaurant Le Trianon offers you an elegant ambiance and a choice of international and innovative delicacies. It also has a lake-side terrace. The restaurant is open from 7:00 to 10:30 for breakfast, 11:30 to 14:00 for lunch (Monday to Saturdays) and 18:00 to 22:00 for dinner. It is also open from 11:00 to 15:00 for brunch on Sundays. The restaurant is closed on Sunday evenings and Mondays (November to March)
The restaurant Il Padrino serves Italian cuisine and an exquisite wine-list in a Mediterranean atmosphere. It has a lake-side terrace available in the summer. The restaurant is open for lunch from 12:00 to 14:00 and for dinner from 18:30 to 22:00. The restaurant is closed on Sundays during low season.
The restaurant Thai Lotus serves delicious food from the Far East. Here you can enjoy a variety of Thai soups, salads and mild or hot, green or red curries. There is also a lake-side terrace open in the summer. The restaurant is open from 11:30 to 14:30 for lunch and from 18:30 to 21:30 for dinner. It is closed on Tuesdays.
The National Bar serves cocktails, an extensive wine list and cigars, as well as light snacks. It has a stylish, 'end of the century' interior and musical entertainment every evening. It also has a lake-side terrace.

The Grand Hotel National is beautifully situated directly on the shore of lake Lucerne. The train station and the old town are within 5 minutes walking distance. Thanks to the central location of Lucerne the cities of Zurich (60km), Bern and Basel (100km) are within easy reach.
Travel by car from Zurich, Basel, Bern:
Take the exit "Luzern Zentrum" and drive towards the train station (Bahnhof). Then follow directions for "Küssnacht, Weggis". After crossing over the lake bridge you can see the Grand Hotel National on the right hand side. The car can be parked in the car park opposite the hotel.
Travel by train:
Leave the train station via the main exit and take bus number 6 or 8 "Verkehrshaus Würzenbach". Get off the bus at the bus stop "Luzernerhof" and walk straight on. In two minutes you will reach the main entrance to the hotel. There are taxis at the train station; a ride to the hotel costs approximately Sfr. 12.-. By foot it will take you around 12 minutes to get to the hotel from the train station.

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.
